Meet Jaheda and Sammy! These two contacted me for a maternity and newborn bundle. This is a package deal that includes a maternity and newborn session to document these beautiful moments for families!
Jaheda and Sammy opted for a studio maternity photoshoot since their last trimester was during the winter months in Metro Detroit. A studio session is a perfect way to get beautiful photos while staying warm and cozy inside!

Studio Maternity Photoshoot in Royal Oak
If you’re expecting your little one to arrive in the winter months, I highly recommend a studio maternity photoshop. My favorite studio to use for maternity photos is You’re So Fancy in Royal Oak, MI. This studio provides multiple backdrops and props available for use to make the most of your studio maternity photos.
A studio maternity photoshoot can also provide a more private environment for your maternity sessions. If you don’t want to worry about walking far to a park location or worry about others around, a studio may be perfect for you.
A typical studio session is anywhere from 30-60 minutes. Most maternity sessions are 20-30 minutes with one outfit. I like to keep maternity sessions simple and sweet, using a few different poses to get you a variety of images.

What to Wear for Studio Maternity Photos
When trying to decide what to wear for maternity photos, there’s a few factors to consider. You’ll definitely want to be comfortable, but you want to make sure we can see your bump! Here are my tips for choosing what to wear for maternity photos:
- Something form-fitted to show your baby bump
- Avoid black against any non-white backdrop. Otherwise the bump will be hard to see.
- Consider your environment. Avoid white in the snow and open-belly outfits in the cold.
- Neutral colors with minimal patterns photograph best

When to Take Maternity Photos
The best time to take maternity photos is between 31-35 weeks. You always want to allow plenty of time to take photos before your due date in case baby comes early, but also late enough to get your full bump! You also want to consider how you’re feeling during your pregnancy to make sure you’re feeling the best in your photos.
If you’re having a hard time moving around in your third trimester, a studio maternity session may be easier and more comfortable for you. If you’re able to walk around for about 30 minutes, an outdoor option like a park may be perfect for you.
