Shira and Scott were expecting their first child and reached out to Savvy Shoots Photography for some maternity and newborn photos in Oakland County, MI. Maternity photography is one of my favorite sessions to capture, and I was so stoked to be able to capture this special time for them!

We planned to take their maternity photos in April. Since spring can be such an unpredictable time for photos in Michigan, we opted for a greenhouse photoshoot. This allowed us to stay warm and dry while also getting some pretty greenery and flowers in the photos! We purchased a photography permit from Goldner Walsh Garden & Home to complete our session.

When to Book Maternity Photos

The best time to book maternity photos is around 28-34 weeks. You’ll want to make sure we are able to capture your bump, but you don’t want to feel too uncomfortable yet! I always recommend to schedule at least a month before your due date just in case baby decides to come earlier than expected.
