Being pregnant may not always be the most glorious experience, but it’s definitely one you won’t want to forget. Before you know it, your little one will be with you and your bump will be gone. I started offering maternity photography in addition to newborn photography to help you document every stage of this journey! Here’s a little sneak peek into maternity photography in Southfield from a session at Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve.
Why Take Maternity Photos
What’s the point of maternity photos? Maternity photography isn’t just to have a photo of you pregnant, but to serve as a way to remember all of the joy, excitement and even nervousness you felt when preparing to bring your baby home. It’s a way to document this beautiful stage of life for you and for your child.
I like to keep maternity photos short and sweet to help you feel most comfortable. I also love to include props that help tell your story. Some props to include during your maternity session may include:
- Sonogram photos
- Baby booties
- Sign with baby’s name or due date
- Special stuffies
- Onesie that shows baby’s name or a fun phrase
If you have other children, a maternity photoshoot is a great time to take some updated family photos as well! This can also be a great time to help your other children feel included in the process of brining a new baby home.
Fall Maternity Photos in Southfield, MI
Natalie and Scott chose to take their maternity photos at Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve in Southfield, MI. This is a small park with a great walking trail. We were able to catch the end of the fall leaf color change, and it was beautiful!
These two also got a few family photos with their two fur babies. We spend just over 30 minutes walking to different parts of the park and taking photos. Each mom has a unique experience during their pregnancy. Consult with your photographer to understand how much walking is necessary for your maternity photos to make sure you’re comfortable during your session!
Booking Maternity Photography in Metro Detroit
I offer maternity and newborn photography bundle packages in the Metro Detroit area. By bundling these services together, we’ll be able to get to know each other before baby comes to help newborn photos run even smoother.
When should you book maternity photos? I recommend booking your photos between 4-8 weeks of your due date. Many new moms give birth early, and you don’t want to risk running out of time before the baby is here!
