This year I have had the absolute honor of documenting Jaheda & Sammy’s growing family! From their studio maternity photography session to their in-home newborn photography shoot in Sterling Heights, we created beautiful photos that will last a lifetime. Newborn photography has become a love of mine. There’s something so special about capturing these once-in-a-lifetime moments for you and your babies.

In-Home Newborn Photography
Twins are double the work! Choosing an in-home newborn photography shoot was ideal for this family of four. Being at home allows you to access anything you may need for the babies, and it allows us not to be restricted by studio time. I spent about three hours at their home between setting up, photographing babies, feeding and settling babies, and family photos. A typical newborn photography session can last 1-2 hours depending on the baby and package chosen.

Family Photos with Newborns
I typically shoot the family photos last during the newborn session. My newborn prep guide helps you to have the baby sleepy and ready by the time I arrive so I can photograph their solo shots first. Depending on the package you choose, this can take anywhere from 20-60 minutes.
There are some photos I love to get with every family. This includes sitting on the couch, capturing their faces from behind, and parents holding their baby’s feet. I also love including the nursery of parents have one set up!

When to Book Newborn Photographer
Newborns are most cooperative for sessions between 7-14 days old. I always recommend planning a tentative date within two weeks of your due date. If you are also looking for maternity photography, make sure to book your bundle package a few months before your due date. It’s best to schedule maternity photos about 8-10 weeks before your due date.
