Kara and Zach had a beautiful wedding over Memorial Day weekend with their closest family and friends at the Atlas Valley Golf Club in Grand Blanc, MI. These two have known each other since college, and I was so excited to document their special day for them!
The Atlas Valley Golf Club is a small and quaint club with lots to offer. With multiple ceremony locations and separate cocktail and reception spaces, there is room for all your activities. Kara and Zach chose to have an indoor ceremony to keep things in one spot. While all the guests were at cocktail hour outside, the staff quickly flipped the space into a beautiful large dining area.
Bridal Suite Wedding Photos
One of the best features of this golf club wedding was the gorgeous bridal suite! It’s practically a little apartment for you and your party to get ready in. With lots of natural light, mirrors and a whole kitchen, it’s a homey place for your girls. You’ll have plenty of space to put your things, hang your dresses and get your makeup on! We even did our first looks in the bridal suite on this hot day in August.
While the girls were getting ready with their natural light and pink furniture, the guys were practicing their golfing skills with the golf simulator. The guys used the simulator and locker rooms to get ready. This kept them cool from the August heat and helped them have some fun before the ceremony.
Golf Course Wedding Photos
We took a majority of the wedding photos around the golf course. The staff was kind enough to lead us in a caravan of golf carts to some great locations. One of the hardest parts of taking photos on a golf course is the harsh sunlight. We found a white barn on the course that gave us some shade for the sun, and used that with the bridal party! This bridal party was so fun to work with.
I cannot compliment the staff enough. Not only did they help the entire bridal party get out to the course, but they helped us to find the best spots to photograph.
Wedding Ceremony Location in Grand Blanc
Atlas Valley Golf Club has a few different options for ceremony spaces. Kara and Zach chose to have their ceremony indoors to stay out of the heat. The ceremony space was later flipped into the final reception space during cocktail hour. The staff was so helpful and quick to make sure everything worked together perfectly!
The Perfect Wedding Reception Space
I absolutely loved this reception space for this wedding. The ballroom was large enough to have a large dance floor, photo booth, two bars and plenty of seating. The windows on either side of the room added gorgeous natural light that photographers love! The stone fireplaces added texture and warmth to the space, and I loved how the couple decorated it.
One of my favorite parts of the night was the dancing. Everyone got down on the dance floor and had so much fun together! Many of Kara and Zach’s guests actually went to high school together (and with me) so it was fun seeing them all connect and have fun with one another!
When looking for Grand Blanc wedding photography, make sure you find a photographer who is well versed in flash. Lighting can make a huge difference in your images! This venue was set up great for my team to set up our lighting equipment to get some well-lit dancing photos. At every wedding, I also love adding some fun shutter drag photos as well to bring the photos to life.
