On a chilly April day, I was honored to take downtown Detroit engagement photos for Brandon and Shuyue. These two were absolutely amazing behind a camera! They were so in love, which made the session even more fun! Brandon and Shuyue wanted to take photos at both the art museum and Fisher, so we fit both location in within our one hour engagement session.

Engagement Photos at Detroit Institute of Arts

We started our time together at the Detroit Institute of Arts, where Brandon and Shuyue had their first date. They were so excited to be back on those beautiful white marble stairs, and now for their engagement photoshoot. It didn’t take long for them to show me the love they had for each other and how effortlessly they made love look. 

Fisher Building Engagement Photos

Next, we made our way to the Fisher Building. This was Brandon and Shuyue’s first time inside and were amazed by the intricate details of the building. We had this photoshoot during the week so not many people were there. Brandon and Shuyue looked like naturals; whether it was walking down the hallway, spinning in the lobby, or kissing in the elevators.  

The Fisher Building allows photography with no permit or fee on the main floor of the building. In order to access the second and third floor balcony, you would need to pay a fee of $250. Reserving the balcony offers a few more unique locations for your session as well as some extra privacy. Brandon and Shuyue were such a lovely couple to photograph and truly showed what their love looks like. We had the opportunity to shoot their wedding just a few months after their engagement session, and it was such a sweet affair! We love watching our couples fall in love and start families together.
