In the winter of 2025, I had the honor of documenting Hannah & Hector’s Detroit elopement at the Fisher Building! Hannah inquired with me for a quick elopement photo session and wanted somewhere indoor and warm, and my first instinct was to recommend the Fisher!
We started the day by taking a few photos at the Detroit Institute of Arts to get some outdoor portraits of the couple before their ceremony. We spent a total of two hours together and within that time we were able to travel to three different places: the DIA, the Fisher and the Foundation Hotel.

Fisher Building Wedding Photography
Once we finished portraits at the DIA, we headed to the Fisher. The Fisher building is one of Detroit’s most iconic buildings. Completed in the late 1920s, there’s truly nothing else like it in the city! Today, it’s home to the Fisher Theatre and several stories of office buildings. The structure itself is one of the tallest buildings in the city!

The Fisher Building allows photography with no permit or fee on the main floor of the building. We chose to rent out the third floor balcony so Hannah and Hector could say their vows privately with their parents. This also gave us a private location to take photos without public interference.
In order to reserve the balcony, I did have to physically meet with the building manager and pay a $250 fee and provide insurance. The building requires all information and payment at least two days before the session, but the reservations are first come, first serve, so the soonest you book the better!

Hannah and Hector exchanged vows with their parents standing by their side. They also hired a professional officiant to ensure all paperwork was taken care of for them. After their ceremony, we took a few family photos and portraits around the building.
Detroit Foundation Hotel
Hannah and Hector reserved a room at the Foundation Hotel for the night. After the ceremony, we headed to the hotel for the couple to do a cake cutting a take a few more photos before headed to a celebration dinner with their families.
We popped champagne, cut the cake and got some of my favorite photos of the night! We even took a few hotel hallway photos just for fun. Hannah and Hector will be having a reception for their friends and family to celebrate with them over the summer, and I cannot wait to take even more photos for them then!
