Downtown Detroit offers a variety of locations perfect for your engagement photos. From the elegant architecture of the Fisher Building to the greenery of Belle Isle, there’s something for everyone! When Kiersten contacted me for engagement photos, we decided that mixing the Fisher Building and the Detroit Institute of Arts would be the perfect settings for engagement photos with fiance, Stefan.

Fisher Building Engagement Photos

The Fisher Building in Detroit is one of my most recommended locations for Detroit engagement photos, especially in the winter! It’s indoors and completely free to use. The building hosts the Fisher Theatre as well as business offices in the floors above the theater. 

With its unique architecture, the lobby offers classic gold accents and gorgeous arches that help create some striking photos for you and your fiance. As a photographer, I love the symmetry and framing the architecture of this building offers. There’s also some great locations to take photos outside of the building as well to add some variety to your session.

I recommend dressing in classic attire like Kiersten and Stefan did here for their session. Any outfit you’d wear to the theater is a great place to start when choosing what to wear for engagement photos at the Fisher!

Photos at the Detroit Institute of Arts

Our last stop of the day was at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The DIA is a great location to pair with the Fisher Building because it’s only a five minute drive away! It was a little rainy during our session, but we made the most of it! Thankfully, the white marble doesn’t get too slippery, so we were able to capture some photos on the famous staircase and create some beautiful images.
