Newborn photography is one of my favorite parts of my job! I absolutely love watching you hold your new baby and documenting the love and excitement from this very special time. I have offered in-home newborn photography sessions for a few years now, but I have started doing more and more studio newborn photography sessions, and I love them!
The studio I use most is located in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan. These photos are from a sweet session with two new parents and their first born. He was so great during the session that we were able to multiple poses with him!
Why Choose Studio Newborn Photos
Studio newborn photography offers different options for your newborn photos. While in-home photography allows you to capture some special moments in your home, studio newborn photos offer their own perks, such as:
- No cleaning required – just leave the house and go!
- Use of multiple props and backgrounds
- More lighting options (especially if you don’t have many windows at home)
- Opportunity to get out of the house
If you don’t want to worry about cleaning your home or rearranging furniture, a studio option may be perfect for you and your baby. Whether we are in home or at a studio, we will capture photos of you with your baby and the whole family together.
Included in Studio Photos
Choosing to rent a studio for newborn photos allows us to have more of a variety of props to work with. The studio is filled with all sorts of chairs, boxes and wraps that we can use for your baby! I own my own wraps, which I also bring to in-home newborn sessions. If you have another little one, we can use kid-sized chairs and couches to help them feel included and snap a few photos of them as well!
Here is everything that is included in a studio newborn photography session:
- 1 Hour of studio rental
- All studio props
- Controlled environment
- 1 Hour of session time
- Unlimited edited images in a digital gallery
When to Book Newborn Photos
When you are planning your studio newborn photography session, timing is everything. Ideally, we want to schedule your newborn photos within two weeks of their birth date. This documents all the fresh baby details while also giving us the sleepiest baby! The more sleepy the baby, the more cooperative they will be.
From my years of experience working with newborns and taking newborn courses, I’ve learned that comfortable babies are happy babies. We’ll make sure baby is warm, fed, and changed before we begin!
