Congratulations! You’ve made it to one of the biggest steps in wedding planning: deciding where your wedding is going to be. There are so many factors to this like where, when, and how much, but If you’re a Metro-Detroit bride wanting a stress free day where the venue takes the lead on planning all the major parts of your day, consider these all-inclusive Detroit wedding venues!

With an all-inclusive wedding venue, you and your partner still get to make the decisions, but you don’t have to coordinate and gather all the details of the big day. If you’re looking to get out of the suburbs and into the city to celebrate, downtown Detroit has some of the most unique wedding venues! The neat thing about all-inclusive Detroit wedding venues is the variety of options to choose from. They have both old and historic venues, or new, urban and modern.

If you’re ready to start planning your beautiful wedding, start here for our top list of Detroit Wedding venues!

  • The venue’s mezzanine is a fantastic overlook to the rest of the party. This is also a space where you could put fun guest activities like a candy bar or photo booth. Or both.

Gem Theatre

Directly across from Ford Field football sits this almost estate-like theater, with its classic neon sign illuminating the way to this historical wedding venue. Between the timeless charm and lavish opulence of the red and gold color palette, the stage is waiting for you to say your I do’s.

Features:

  • Gem Theatre allows for a 450 person capacity

  • Enjoy a garden and patio space, open for events between May and October. These would be perfect spaces for a cocktail hour while rooms are rearranged or photos are being taken.
  • Full service catering and bar are offered
  • Pre-paid parking in the Gem Theatre Garage is convenient for guests to walk just a short distance
  • The Gem is connected to the same string of owners as the Colony Club, so the pricing structure is the same for both venues and can be researched further here.

Fun fact: If you want a Detroit wedding venue that comes with a little bragging rights, the Gem Theatre is actually in the Guiness Book of World Records for being the “furthest known relocation of a sizeable building,” as it was moved five blocks from its original location in 1997.

Detroit Opera House

The Detroit Masonic Temple

If you are looking for a large space to entertain for your guest list, the Masonic Temple is a fantastic space. Not only is it a notable gem in the heart of the city, but it is one of the largest buildings in the world, accommodating multiple different ballrooms and auditoriums. Its beauty is evident on both the inside and outside, from its architectural stone features to the rooms adorned in rich wood and marble. This is one of the most popular choices of our Detroit Wedding venues, so it’s sure to book up quickly!

Features:

  • The temple can accommodate between 350 and 550 people, so it’s one of the best venues for a large guest list.
  • The temple provides a range of services and amenities, including catering, event planning, and decor

Item to consider:

  • Due to the size of the venue and the multiple different buildings within it, you would not be the only one here during your big day. While the building is large and there may not be much clashing, if any, of different events, this factor may be something to consider.
  • No matter the season, you’ll always have heat and air conditioning. Because of the size of the building, some areas of the building may feel warmer than others, so this is worth asking about when planning the rooms to celebrate in.

Garden Theatre

Back in 1912, what would come to be one of the most romantic and elegant wedding venues of midtown Detroit today, a gem if you will, made its debut! It hosted live shows and movies for some years, and then was redone and restored to its modern glory in 2013 after sitting vacant for some time. Still a relatively new venue, Gem Theatre quickly became popular with its urban feel.

Features:

  • Capacity of 240 people seated banquet style
  • The venue has their own parking garage for $12 per vehicle
  • Equipped with a mezzanine for additional viewing, terrace for outdoor space, and bridal suite
  • When it comes to your ceremony, you have the option of having it in the atrium of the theater, depending on the size of your guest list.
  • They have approved caterers and food must be chosen from one of those vendors. While it doesn’t allow you to choose your own, there are no more than 9 styles to choose from so you don’t get too overwhelmed with decision fatigue. Indian and Kosher can be accommodated.
  • What is the average cost? The venue estimates that for a 100-person wedding and reception, couples typically spend between $21-55,000. Costs can vary significantly depending on the specific date of your wedding and the guest experience you envision.
  • A $6,000 dollar deposit is required to book

Bonuses:

  • The venue includes options for a video recording and/or live stream options if you have chosen not to have a videographer for your day. Huge plus!
  • The venue only hosts one event at a time so the place would be yours exclusively.

Items to consider:

  • Event managers and staff will be present on the day of your event. However, for additional direction and coordination, they recommend hiring a day-of-coordinator.

The Madison Rooftop

The Madison Rooftop is a stylish and vibrant smaller venue known for its stunning panoramic views of the Detroit skyline. The atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed, with a mix of cozy, modern decor. During your big day, you and your guests can enjoy a diverse menu of craft cocktails, local beers, all from the unique perspective of a historical Detroit skyscraper.

  • The Rooftop has a 180 person strolling and a 130 person seated capacity
  • The venue has modern furnishings that can add to your decor, a covered catering area, a full-service bar, a dance floor, and a wraparound balcony.
  • A sound system, TVs with phone and laptop hookups, and handheld microphones are available.
  • Couples usually spend an average of $11,500 with this venue This largely depends on how big the guest list is and what kind of bar option you choose, as the high end range is at about $40,000.
  • Being on a rooftop, you have the advantage of getting architecture shots of downtown. You may even see a Detroit sunset over Comerica Park.
  • Because the rooftop would be subject to any inclement weather, there is a 5th floor loft that can be used as the event space instead.
  • Rental form with more information can be found here: https://www.weddingwire.com/vendor/pricing/file/dd542555-5b9e-4700-8390-6614a7c06c85/fd8aa77b-39e4-427b-975e-89d673372b2a/The-Madison—Social-Events-2024-2025.pdf

Items to note:

  • The Madison’s team notes that they are highly involved in the planning process, but do require that you collaborate with a professional wedding planner for month-of coordination. The responsibilities of the planner would have to include overseeing your ceremony rehearsal, liaising with vendors onsite, managing your schedule, and ensuring the collection of any gifts or wedding items at the end of the evening. They do have event coordinator suggestions if needed.
  • Dinnerware and decorative items like table linen and centerpieces are not provided and would need to be rented separately.
  • They do not offer many seated tables due to the nature of the rooftop venue, so cocktail hour and dinner would look more casual as guests would be standing at tables or seated on the outdoor furniture.

Reaching out to their events team to get started with inquiries or planning is their best suggestion: https://rockevents.com/event-venue/the-madison-rooftop/
